Less than two miles from downtown Galena, and six miles from down hill skiing, LeFevre Inn & Resort is nestled on 10 acres of beautiful countryside, providing quick and convenient access to quaint shops, incredible dining and abundant activity such as biking, hiking, golfing, kayaking, canoeing, skiing, and snow boarding, all in a private setting embracing the natural beauty of Jo Daviess County. LeFevre Inn & Resort is a hidden gem that offers breathtaking, panoramic views of the Tri-State Area.
Our private inn – features eight traditional rooms, all with wood burning fireplaces, spacious Galena View Suite, two – 2 bedroom cottages and our new three bedroom Garden View Apartment.
This beautiful property, with it’s amazing views and unforgettable sunsets, covered in corn at the time, was acquired in 1987 by James B. and Mary Jane Vincent and conveyed to their five children, Mary, Ruth, Sarah, J. William “Bill” and Martha, who had the vision and dream of opening a romantic, country inn, seemingly so far from Galena – yet so close – that would be enjoyed by many over the years to come!
The Vincent Family roots go back several generations, beginning with J.P. Vincent Monuments, still in existence today, followed by James B. Vincent, prominent Galena attorney for over 50 years. Although deceased, his daughter, Mary, continues to run the law office started by her father. Family and community were always first and foremost to the Vincents’ and continue to be to this day.
LeFevre Inn opened in October, 1988, with eight guest rooms. In 1992, the Galena View Suite was built as a room that could be used for small meetings and could accommodate families.
In 2007, “Bill” met Ramona, who had 35 years in the hospitality industry, and together they took LeFevre Inn to new heights, completing a “floor to ceiling” rooms renovation, adding the 1.3 acre pond, floating gazebo, a hiking/biking trail that connects to the Galena River Trail, the three bedroom Garden View Apartment and lastly, The Sunset Pavilion, that opened in July of 2017.
Can't Say Enough Good This inn! Located a short drive from downtown Galena, is in the most serene setting with beautiful sunsets. The grounds and the rooms are extremely well maintained - clearly a labor of love from the hosts and staff who are both very friendly.

The addition of the pond and floating gazebo were the catalyst for weddings at LeFevre. Bill and Ramona were married in 2009 by Bill’s father, retired judge, James B. Vincent, in the Gazebo. This was the first wedding held at LeFevre.
We now play host to many weddings, family reunions, girlfriend gatherings as well as continue being a special couples getaway destination.
Ramona and her husband Bill have been involved with fundraising and helping to preserve several of the Jo Daviess Conservation Foundation sites, including Horseshoe Mound and Casper Bluff. Both of these beautiful land preserves are located within minutes of LeFevre Inn.
